I would use avg or adaware. They are not like norton, and most importantly can run quite sufficiently on pentium processors. (I think Norton came closest at 80%) I have not had a virus since the floppy disk went extinct and I have been computing since the 80's careful housekeeping techniques and not using Internet explorer are your safest bets.
