Every time a contact sends me a file, windows live messenger downloads and installs ‘windows safety one-care scanner’ or something like that, even though its done it about 50 times already. I already have anti-virus software (AVG Free 8.0), but it still seems to feel the need to download fresh software that it already has downloaded! How do I stop this!?

1. Login to Messenger.
2. Click on Tools.
3. Click on Options.
4. Click on “File Transfer”.
5. Place a tick in “Scan files for viruses using:”.
6. Select your virus scanner of choice.:
